For those interested in contact lenses, we also feature a variety of single vision, monovision, multifocal and bifocal contact lenses, including Acuvue, O2 Optix, Air Optix, FreshLook Colors, Dailies, Biofinity, and Proclear, to help correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and emerging presbyopia (difficulty with near work). Contact lenses can also be beneficial in medical conditions such as keratoconus, corneal scars, and aphakia, or in anisometropia, when a large difference exists between the prescriptions of both eyes. Low Vision
Joan Draper, M.D. is a Board-certified ophthalmologist and The Eye Care Group’s low vision specialist. Dr. Draper provides a full range of services to help improve the quality of life for patients with visual loss from advanced glaucoma, optic nerve disease, macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, stroke, or any form of visual impairment. During your consultation, a thorough evaluation will help determine which optical or electronic device best fits your needs depending on the type and degree of your visual loss and your ability to handle various devices. We recommend that you plan on an initial appointment length of approximately two hours. With her personal experience of suffering optic nerve damage due to illness, Dr. Draper brings a unique, humane touch to her specialty.
