Dr. Geffin is an expert with years of experience specializing in the following refractive techniques to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism:
- LASIK - Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, a popular laser procedure, in which a corneal flap is created, an Excimer laser is used to sculpt the cornea, and the corneal flap is replaced. Patients rapidly recover great post-operative vision.
- PRK – Photorefractive Keratectomy, also called advanced surface ablation, is a procedure in which the Excimer laser is used to sculpt the superficial cornea. Without the creation of a corneal flap, PRK may be better for patients with thin corneas or for those prefer not to have a flap created.
- Premium Intraocular Lenses – intraocular lenses implanted during cataract surgery to minimize the need for glasses at both distance and near, including ReSTOR®, Tecnis® Multifocal, Crystalens®, and Toric Intraocular lenses.
- Limbal Relaxing Incisions – a technique of creating corneal incisions to reduce astigmatism.

Not every patient is a refractive surgery candidate.
The following conditions may affect your candidacy for refractive surgery:
- Age less than 21-years old (due to potential instability of refractive error)
- History of eye inflammation (iritis)
- History of Herpes simplex eye infections
- Keratoconus or other corneal irregularities
- Other eye diseases (cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration)
- Pregnancy or breast-feeding (due to hormonal vision changes)
- Thin corneas
- Unstable Refraction
