Dr. Lesser particularly enjoys tennis, opera, swimming, sailing, history and travel. He and his lovely wife have three wonderful children.
Dr. Lesser obtained his medical
degree from Cornell University Medical College and his Bachelor of
Science degree from Queens College, City University of New York. He
completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University in the Department
of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and did additional training in
Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
He is Clinical Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology & Visual Science, as well as Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurology at Yale University School of Medicine. He is also Clinical Professor of Neurology and Surgery (Neurosurgery) at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
He is an active member of the Yale University Departments of Ophthalmology & Visual Science and Neurology. Residents in both these departments spend time with him as part of their neuro-ophthalmology training.
Dr. Lesser was on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology and is the former Chief of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Yale. He is a recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor Award and has been listed in many different publications as one of the Best Doctors in America. He is currently on the Editorial Board of EyeNet, a publication of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has written and published many articles and textbook chapters and continues to speak at various meetings around the country. Dr. Lesser is a Fellow of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a former President of the Yale Alumni in Ophthalmology.
