have three children.

Dr. Rose, a specialist in small incision cataract surgery and glaucoma, received his degree from New York Medical College after graduating from Brown University with honors. He completed his residency training at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, where he was active in glaucoma research. He is the previous director of Residency Training at the Yale University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Dr. Rose holds a dual appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor at the Yale School of Medicine and The Yale School of Nursing.

Shortly after his arrival to New Haven in 1989, Dr. Rose became the youngest invited faculty member of the prestigious Project Orbis, a flying eye hospital that teaches medical and surgical skills throughout the developing world. He was appointed director of the Yale Residency Program in Ophthalmology in 1991, and went on to develop and implement a surgical training curriculum for the residency training program at Yale, where he is a core lecturer on cataract surgery and the management of its complications. Dr. Rose has lectured at numerous national and international meetings, and in over 12 countries outside of the U.S. In addition, he is an active participant in numerous ongoing surgical and medical research projects.

Dr. Rose is a Section Editor of Techniques in Ophthalmology, and a consultant for Advanced Medical Optics. He has published numerous articles in ophthalmic literature. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, as well as a member of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians and the Connecticut Glaucoma Society. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Hunger Relief and Development, and Justice Works Medical Humanitarian Aid Services, and sits on the Board of Governors of the New Haven Medical Association.
