Joan Draper, MD
Dr. Draper has significantly expanded our vision rehabilitation program in Southbury with her expertise in low vision devices and vision therapy. She enjoys teaching patients to maximize the use of their remaining vision so that they can resume their work, hobbies, and daily living skills. Dr. Draper uses her own personal experience with vision loss to help bring renewed hope and independence to those struggling with vision loss at any level. Dr. Draper, a graduate of Dartmouth College and McGill University Medical School, practiced general Ophthalmology for 17 years in her own private offices in Southbury and Danbury, Connecticut, and then joined The Eye Care Group in 2010.
She enjoys audio books, traveling, and many sports, and is fluent in French. She lives in Brookfield with her husband, Dr. Gary Townsend, and has three daughters, two in college and the youngest beginning high school in Fall of 2011.
