Front Desk Medical Secretary – New Haven and Waterbury offices

We are seeking applicants with pleasant, positive attitudes who are warm and articulate. The ideal applicant should enjoy multi-tasking, focusing on customer service, and willing to work as a contributing member of a team. Responsibilities include greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, answering heavy phone volume, check out duties, and general office duties.  Experience is welcomed, but not required. Applicants must be comfortable with computers.  Paid training and full-time or part-time positions are available.


Ophthalmic Assistant – New Haven/Branford, Waterbury/Southbury offices

Ophthalmic assistants work closely with the MDs and patients taking histories, doing preliminary testing with patients, and ancillary testing. We are seeking bright, energetic people with friendly attitudes who are already experienced or are willing to train as ophthalmic assistants. This position is a great career opportunity for someone with outstanding people skills, a strong work ethic, and who is willing to work as a contributing member of a team. Positions are available for full-time, part-time or an average of 30 hours a week with benefits.  Extensive paid training is provided. Strong written and verbal communication skills supported by solid grammar, spelling and punctuation skills are needed in addition to the ability to perform basic algebraic functions. Position includes extensive data entry responsibilities.


Certified or Certification eligible Orthoptist – New Haven/Branford, Waterbury/Southbury offices

We are seeking an orthoptist for our busy motility service, staffed by both pediatric ophthalmologists and neuro-ophthalmologists. We emphasize the independent use of orthoptic skills in our practice with flexible responsibilities, including evaluation and treatment of adults and children with ocular motility disorders and amblyopia, and assistance with general patient work-up and refraction. The ability to perform retinoscopy is desired but not required.


Referral Bonus

Any current employee or friend or relative of an employee is eligible to receive a bonus, $250.00 for a position 21-40 hours and $125.00 for a position of 20 hours or less, if they have referred an applicant to the practice who has been hired and successfully completed 6 months of employment. Upon completion of a year of employment by the applicant an additional bonus of $250.00 for a position 21-40 hours and $125.00 for a position of 20 hours or less will be paid to the referring employee. This policy is put in place to encourage and reward current staff to refer prospective employees to the practice. We encourage all employees to refer to Human Resources anyone they think would make a valuable co-worker. It is not the policy of The Eye Care Group to “raid” other practices and this policy should not be viewed as encouraging the “raiding” of other practices.
